Arne Jacobsen "Swan Chair" by Fritz Hansen
Since Arne Jacobsen first designed the "Jacobsen Swan Chair" in the late 1950s, Jacobsen Swan Chairs have graced fine lobbies, lounges and homes across around the world. When it was created, the Jacobsen Swan Chair was a technologically innovative chair: no straight lines - only curves. The Swan Chair features a moulded shell of synthetic material on an aluminium star swivel base, with a layer of cold foam covering the shell upholstered in fabric or leather.
In 1958, the Royal Hotel of Copenhagen commissioned Arne Jacobsen to design the Swan Chair and the Egg Chair for its lounges and reception area. Jacobsen then created the original Swan Chair in his own garage, and Swan Chairs have been in production at Fritz Hansen ever since.
