A female icon in the world of furniture design, Greta Magnusson Grossman established for herself a forty-year long career spanning across Europe and the United States. Born in Sweden in 1906, Grossman attended the Stockholm Arts Institution, later to open her own design studio in Stockholm. Shortly after marrying an American jazz musician, Grossman moved to Los Angeles where her international career boomed. Her career as an interior designer, architect and furniture designer flourished in California. Her designs exploded in popularity, as she designed spaces for celebrity clients in Los Angeles such as Frank Sinatra and Gracie Allen. A pioneer in mid-century design, Greta Magnusson Grossman’s designs are still renowned to this day, making her footprint on the world of design even greater as time goes on. Most well known for her Gräshoppa Floor Lamp and Cobra Table Lamp designs, the brilliant artistry of Greta Magnusson Grossman is still beloved by design enthusiasts today.
